Design Philosophy

Established in 2004 by landscape designer  Morgan Vondrak, Argia Designs is the culmination of a lifetime of interest in art and the outdoors.

Over 10 years of experience in the nursery and landscape industry, including over 5 years of experience with California native plants, and an educational background in art and sculpture lends a balanced view toward the design process.  Along with her extensive knowledge of plant material Morgan has also worked for several contractors in the San Diego area through which she has gained hands-on experince in the installation of hardscape, irrigation, water features, etc.

Our design philosophy is to create beautiful and sustainable outdoor living environments that reduce our dependance on water, fertilizers, and pesticides and provide welcoming habitat for humans and wildlife alike.

We feel that the role of the landscape designer is perhaps most important in bringing together the desires and tastes of the homeowner while evaluating the overall environment and bringing all elements together into a seamless blend of function and design.

Public Projects:

University of Redlands/ CentennialHeritageGarden:   worked with Professor Katherine Noble Goodman and her Environmental Design Studio class of 2005 to put together a design and design proposal for an on campus native centennial garden.  Design included regionally specific native plantings for Woodland, Coastal, Chaparral, Desert, and Redlands plant communities as well as a meeting area, various sitting areas, and a recycled grey water riparian stream.  The Centennial Garden is slated for a space adjacent to Lewis Hall, a “green” building which houses the university’s environmental studies program.

Kit Carson Park's Iris Sankey Magical Garden:  partnered with members of the Escondido Citizens’ Ecology Committee including former Escondido Mayor Jerry Harmon and members of the Lake Hodges Native Plant Club to design and install the native garden for the entry area to the Iris Sankey Magical Garden at Kit Carson Park in Escondido.
